Chemis

Born in Kazakhstan and based in Prague, Dmitrij Proshkin — known worldwide as Chemis — is one of the artists who helped turn San Nicolas into what Forbes called the Street Art Capital of the Caribbean. He works at monumental scale, specialising in 3D murals and interactive street art that fold local stories into photorealistic imagery. His subjects are rarely decorative: equality, human rights and social pressure run through the work. His Aruban murals include Gulliver on the San Nicolas public library and Playing at Rodger's Beach. Chemis has returned to the Aruba Art Fair year after year since his first invitation.
