Since 2016 muralists from Aruba and around the world have painted the walls of San Nicolas. In 2019 Forbes named it the Street Art Capital of the Caribbean.

Every September, as ArtWeek begins, world-renowned muralists and emerging Aruban talent paint large-scale works across San Nicolas: civic buildings, schools, alleyways and storefronts. The murals do not have to follow the ArtWeek theme. Each artist is free to express their own vision, which keeps the town layered, diverse and alive with meaning.
Every morning the visiting artists lead workshops in mural design, spray techniques and storytelling for local talent. Protected with UV-resistant coatings and cared for by local partners, every mural becomes a lasting part of the open-air museum.

Every mural stays: an open-air museum that grows every year.
Daily workshops mentor young Aruban artists to lead future public art projects.
Schools across Aruba use mural walks to teach history, social justice and creative thinking.
Tours, cafés, art shops and galleries now bring visitors to San Nicolas all year round.

For three days every September more than 100 artists from Aruba and abroad take over warehouses, storefronts and empty buildings with painting, sculpture, photography, installation, textile and craft, joined by musicians, dancers, poets and schools.
Since 2016 more than 700 artists have taken part. The fair is the entry point to ArtisA Gallery and Space21.art, and the place where artists are selected for international showcases such as Red Dot Miami.
Our guides share the stories behind the walls, the artists and the history of San Nicolas. Start at ArtisA Gallery, open Monday to Saturday.
