INFINITY

Count to forever.

INFINITY is built in layers, the way the sea builds a reef. Stencilled dots, tiles and fragments of pattern sit on a cream sky; below, the canvas turns turquoise, the colour of Aruba’s water. Across the middle runs a number, 1.618033…, the golden ratio that shapes shells, waves and sunflowers. Lower down a ring of dots circles the sign π, another number that never ends. A half-wheel like an old compass rises out of the blue, and barcodes and stray digits drift through the work like code.

Elisa Lejuez has spent more than 25 years exploring how nature, identity and change connect, drawing on the ocean and Caribbean life. Here she turns that into maths you can feel: patterns that repeat and never quite close, a rhythm with no last beat.
