Born in Colombia, Andrea Briezen discovered art early. She trained at several art schools alongside her academic studies, specialising in painting, and built her practice through competitions, exhibitions and artistic events — even as her professional life took her through a series of administrative roles. The painting never stopped.
She worked her way through technique after technique on canvas before finding the voice that fit her: fluid, vivid, unafraid of colour. Living between Aruba and Mexico, she draws on the landscapes and cultures of both, and paints the natural world with a directness that borders on affection — Aruba’s sunsets, the movement of a single leaf, the colour of a flower, and above all animals: herons and eagles in flight, horses, cats, a jaguar.
Her work spans acrylic, soft pastel, charcoal and spatula, in series including Wings of Dream and her black cat paintings. Each piece comes with a line of her own about what it means to her.
