About this piece: In my house in Holland I had a giant wallpaper of Gustav Klimt’s famous artwork The kiss in my bedroom. Because I have looked at this wallpaper for years I know it so well so I wanted to incorporate it in my exhibition. Klimt creates the image of a perfect union between a man and a woman merging together. They connect with the earth and the cosmos. They become one with each other.
About the Inspired by the Masters series: In this series I have made a fusion of my characters and aspects of several Masters. Some are alive, some have passed away. I’m self taught and haven’t visited many art galleries so this was really interesting for me. I have learned a lot and taken on some aspects of some of the masters in my other pieces. I was happy to learn from these geniuses.
