Tribute to Banksy’s
The Girl with the Balloon
In this evocative piece from the Inspired by the Masters collection, Kim Violenes reinterprets Banksy’s renowned work The Girl with the Balloon. Banksy’s original, often interpreted as a symbol of lost innocence or the arrival of new hope and love, serves as a foundation for Violenes’ own storytelling. In her version, the scene takes on a hopeful new dimension, featuring her nephew, Jackson, as the central figure. After the girl loses her balloon—representing her lost hope—Jackson steps forward to offer her his own balloon, symbolizing his faith and optimism.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love “1 Corinthians 13:13.
This work is part of Violenes’ Inspired by the Masters series, in which she combines the essence of famous masterpieces with her unique characters, creating new narratives that honor the original while adding fresh layers of meaning. This collection showcases Violenes’ exploration of profound themes, blending her personal insights with the powerful legacy of these artistic icons.
