Born in Amsterdam in 1966 and carrying Dutch and Indonesian heritage, Helena Hoes is a ceramic artist based in Aruba whose work reveals the organic poetry of form, texture, and movement. A lifelong creative, her journey weaves together artistry and entrepreneurship — from running a custom shop in the Netherlands specializing in design, signage, and specialty paint, to co-founding an atelier and gallery that offers workshops, exhibitions, and tours.
Now firmly rooted in Aruba’s vibrant shores, Helena delves into the expressive possibilities of clay. Her sculptures are intuitive and profoundly tactile, often shaped by natural forms and flowing lines. Each creation invites connection — not only with the material itself but with emotion and the quiet, energetic presence discovered in the act of making.
Helena’s practice is guided by curiosity, craftsmanship, and a reverence for the meditative process. Her pieces are more than objects; they are subtle, contemplative celebrations of transformation and touch.
